Brenna's Launch Event at White House Black Market

Brenna's year as the Idaho Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champion has begun!  We had a wonderful launch event at White House Black Market in downtown Boise where Brenna met Miss Idaho.  Here is facebook link to some of the pictures of that special night.

You will see some pictures of our family posted but we are missing one member. Our oldest daughter Audrey had cheer leading tryouts that night and made the team! We missed having her with us that night but are so proud of her accomplishment.

Brenna's Story

Brenna
Age 11
St. Luke's Children's Hospital
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

While playing outside with her siblings, 7-year-old Brenna started to feel dizzy and weak. Her parents took her to the pediatrician and were devastated to learn their daughter had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and 80 to 90 percent of her bone marrow cells were cancerous.

Needles, blood transfusions and hospital stays became a regular part of life for Brenna. She missed a year of school, both soccer and basketball seasons, parties with friends, and even lost her hair. But Brenna did not lose hope.
Brenna’s strength, courage and optimism brought light to doctors, nurses and family members during a difficult time. They often said, “If Brenna can go through all she did, I can make it too.”

An active athlete and musician, Brenna’s light continues to shine as she regularly stocks shelves at the local food bank and finds other ways to give back to her community, family and friends.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champions

Champions is a Children's Miracle Network Hospitals program that brings attention to the important work being done at its 170 children’s hospitals. It does this by honoring 54 remarkable kids who have faced severe medical challenges, and helping them tell their stories.

The Champions program designates a child in every state who has bravely battled a serious injury or illness. The Champions represent the 17 million children treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals every year. The 2012 Champions have dealt with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses including genetic diseases, organ transplants and traumas, as well as various types of cancer.

The Champions travel for a week in September, first to Washington, D.C., where they traditionally meet with their state representatives on Capitol Hill and visit the White House. They then take a private chartered flight, provided by Delta Air Lines, to Orlando, Fla. While there, Champions meet Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals corporate partners, hospital representatives and media partners. These groups convene to celebrate a year of medical miracles during the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Celebration event at Walt Disney World Resort.
